Installation from distribution setup file

To install NOVAXE® from the distribution setup file proceed as follows:

  1. Log on to the host operating system as Administrator

  2. Launch the NOVAXE_Setup_XXX.exe program (where XXX may be a filename decoration bearing version numbers and feature types)

  3. After setup program is loaded, the welcome and license dialogs are shown. Follow the instructions on video to complete the installation.

Please, notice that NOVAXE® runs as a Windows service (the displayed name in the Windows Services applet under Control Panel is: "NOVAXE® configurator") and listens on a TCP port (default 8081) to allow the user to access it via web-browser. It is recommended you leave the default port unless you have some other application already listening on it.

When setup finishes the configurator is set to listen on address 127.0.0.1 (localhost), on the TCP port you have configured during installation. This ensures only the browser on the local host can at that time access the configurator. You can later allow other machines to access the configurator by setting proper options in the configurator itself.

If you have used the default port 8081, you may access the configurator by typing on the URL bar of your browser the address http://127.0.0.1:8081. This link is also present as a shortcut in the NOVAXE® menu in the Program Group of your Windows menu.

Use the username admin to log on the configurator. Upon first run the password to log-in is password. Please use the configurator itself to change it to a more secure one.

Uninstalling

To uninstall NOVAXE® you have to run Add/Remove Programs in the Settings/Control panel, then select Instrinsic NOVAXE® and click on Add/Remove. After removing the product you may be required to delete some files manually.

In particular the installer/uninstaller won't delete any file it has not installed itself. For example if you have used the syslogs subfolder to store your firewall log files, those files won't be erased by the uninstalling process. It's up to you to decide if and when to delete them.
